On June 25, 2024, residents had another opportunity to engage in the development of Schönefeld Nord. Under clear skies, interested parties could interact directly with representatives from the Schönefeld Town Hall and planners from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendees were able to learn about the project, discuss their thoughts, and ask questions.
Visitors could mark their wishes on an aerial view of the development area, drop suggestions and comments into a wish box, and post overarching notes on a bulletin board.
The compiled wish list includes:
- Retail Needs: A drugstore, shopping center, bakery, butcher, discount store, and a car wash.
- Gastronomy: Residents envision several cafés, a döner kebab stand, and a beer garden.
- Healthcare: Needs for pediatric practices, pharmacies, and senior living facilities.
- Sports: A swimming pool is seen as necessary, with tennis and golf courses as desirable additions.
- Community Facilities: Establishing a youth club, a general meeting place, and a community college is considered valuable.
- Transportation: Improved connectivity to Rudower Chaussee, additional bus lines, and safer bike parking. Emphasis was placed on a robust transportation infrastructure, including relieving the highway interchange at Hans-Grade-Allee and enhancing bike and pedestrian pathways.
The information booth provided an opportunity for broader participation from various groups, complementing previous engagement formats and offering another way to involve residents actively in the planning process. The day was a valuable chance to engage directly with residents and capture their ideas. These wishes and suggestions will now be incorporated into the ongoing planning.
