On September 29, a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held together with Mayor Christian Hentschel to mark the start of construction on the first section of road infrastructure for the Schönefeld Nord development area. With this step, the infrastructure connection around the new high school is secured – an important milestone for the future development of the entire neighborhood.
What exactly is being built?
- Road E2: starting at Hans-Grade-Allee, extending about 440 meters north to Road E.
- Road E (1st construction phase): stretching approx. 300 meters north of the high school, ending in a temporary turning circle at its western end.
In parallel with the road construction, MAWV is installing drinking water and wastewater pipelines. Electricity, district heating, and telecommunication lines from E.DIS, e.distherm, and Telekom are also being integrated.
The road construction and stormwater infrastructure are being carried out by STRABAG AG, Directorate North-East.
This measure not only ensures the connection of the new high school to the existing road network, but also lays an essential foundation for the development of the entire quarter.
