The new “Holzwurm” daycare center on Pestalozzistraße in Schönefeld is taking visible shape. Built using modular construction, the facility will provide much-needed additional childcare places for the community in the near future.
In June 2025, the prefabricated modules were delivered and assembled, allowing the building to rise within a very short time. Since then, all modules have been fully installed, windows have been fitted, and the structure has been scaffolded. The current phase of construction is focused on the interior finishing and the design of the façade.
The two-story building will include several group rooms, sleeping areas, functional spaces, and a generous outdoor play area.
Kita Holzwurm is an important component in strengthening Schönefeld’s social infrastructure and reflects the municipality’s forward-looking development strategy. The planning basis for the project was established with the resolution to initiate the corresponding development plan in April 2024.
The daycare center is scheduled to open during the course of 2026.
